At Willow Haven Children’s Care, our mission is simple: to provide a safe, nurturing and stable environment where children and young people feel valued, secure and supported to thrive.

We are committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred care that recognises every young person as an individual, with their own experiences, strengths, needs and aspirations. Our approach places emotional wellbeing at the heart of everything we do, while supporting each child and young person to engage in education, develop positive relationships and make meaningful progress.

We believe that every young person deserves to feel safe, heard and respected. We take the time to listen to their wishes, feelings and views, encouraging them to have a voice and play an active role in decisions about their care and their future. Through consistent care, encouragement and positive role modelling, we create an environment where children and young people can build confidence, develop resilience and learn the skills they need to become increasingly independent.

We believe that positive outcomes are achieved through strong partnerships and effective communication. Our dedicated team works alongside each young person, their families and other professionals to understand what matters to them and provide care that is tailored to their individual needs. We work collaboratively with families, social workers, education providers, health professionals and other relevant services to ensure that each young person receives consistent and well-coordinated support.

We recognise the importance of family relationships and wherever appropriate, support young people to maintain positive and meaningful connections with the people who matter to them. We value the contribution of families and professionals and believe that working together creates the strongest foundation for a young person’s development and wellbeing.

Every young person at Willow Haven Children’s Care will have access to a dedicated sensory room, a variety of engaging workshops and activities, and additional support tailored to their individual needs. These opportunities are designed to encourage self expression, develop new skills, build confidence and promote emotional wellbeing in a safe and supportive environment.

We celebrate progress, however big or small and help young people recognise their own strengths, achievements and potential. Our aim is to create opportunities for every young person to discover their interests, develop their abilities and build the confidence they need for the future.

At Willow Haven Children’s Care, we are not simply providing a place to live. We are creating a home where young people can feel secure, have their voices heard, build trusting relationships and take positive steps towards a brighter, more independent future.

Our Ethos

Our primary aim at Willow Haven Children’s Care Ltd is to enable children and young people who experience social, emotional, behavioural, or complex needs to reach their full potential in learning, independence and emotional wellbeing.

This is achieved by providing a safe, stable, nurturing and stimulating environment.

Our objectives are to:

  • Provide a smooth and effective transition from the young person’s previous placement

  • Identify and meet the educational, social, emotional and healthcare needs of all children and young people placed with us

  • Promote intellectual, social, physical, emotional, cultural, moral and spiritual development

  • Encourage confidence and self-esteem, enabling young people to recognise and celebrate their individuality

  • Promote independence while reducing reliance on adult support, both physically and emotionally, in a safe and structured way

  • Ensure equality of access to care and opportunities regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability, religion, or background

  • Involve families in key decisions relating to care, where appropriate and in line with care planning and safeguarding requirements

  • Use a person/child-centred approach alongside evidence-based practice, including cognitive behavioural approaches to support positive behaviour change and recovery from trauma

Safeguarding

Willow Haven is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all young people in its care. The home ensures that all staff receive appropriate and up-to-date safeguarding training and that safeguarding policies and procedures are regularly reviewed in line with current legislation and guidance.

All young people are supported to understand how to raise concerns, express worries, or report any issues affecting their wellbeing. They are provided with access to a range of trusted adults, both within and outside the home, with whom they can communicate openly and safely.

Young people placed within the home are supported by a network of professionals, including social workers, education providers and healthcare practitioners. These professionals contribute valuable information regarding the young person’s needs, experiences and any potential risks. This information is used to inform comprehensive risk assessments and to ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are in place throughout the placement.

Where concerns arise regarding the welfare of a young person, these are acted upon promptly and in accordance with safeguarding procedures, including local authority protocols for Section 47 enquiries. Any incidents or allegations of abuse, or suspected abuse, are recorded in line with the home’s child protection procedures and reported to the relevant authorities, including the young person’s social worker, the local safeguarding team and Ofsted, as required.

All staff are trained in child protection and safeguarding practices.

This training includes recognising the signs and indicators of abuse, understanding reporting procedures, and responding appropriately to disclosures. Staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage safeguarding concerns sensitively, ensuring that young people are listened to, supported and protected at all times.

Through these measures, Willow Haven ensures a robust and proactive approach to safeguarding, prioritising the safety, wellbeing and best interests of every young person.
